Ruth Finch - Isabels little sister and she is 5 years old. She looks up to Isabel and she does what she is told. She is innocent and usually scared. Her and her sister are both slaves.
Isabel Finch - Ruths older sister. She is the main character and a slave. She is very caring and protective of her sister. She is clever and respectful and wants to free both herself and her sister.
Becky - Works for the locktons with Isabel and Ruth not as a slave but as a servant. She tells them what to do and can be very stern but she cares about the girls and wouldnt want anything bad to happen to them.
Curzon - A young slave boy who is a patriot. His owner is Mr. Bellingham. He convinces Isabel to spy on the Locktons for him. He says he can free her if she does this.
Lady Seymour - She is Mr. Locktons Aunt and she is a loyalist. She treats Isabel well and cared for her after her branding. She has lots of power and everyone likes her.
Mrs. Lockton - She is a loyalist and a very mean and cruel women who owns Isabel and Ruth. She dosnt like both the kids and dosnt tolerate any bad beavior even know thier both still kids.
